Off to the Hamptons

It’s my brother’s girlfriend’s 21st tonight and it’s a Hamptons theme, inspired by Gossip Girl fashion and the New York elite. It’s got me dreaming of what it would be like to be a lady of leisure, sun-kissed and lounging on my yacht (except I get horribly seasick so that would never happen) with a cocktail in hand. Anyway, I’ve been trying to get my Blair Waldorf on and figure out what to wear. There are a few local South African designers I absolutely adore, and if I were to win the lottery, change personalities and actually go to the Hamptons, these would be the pretty things I’d love to have in my cupboard.

Jane SewsI can’t tell you how many times I’ve been on the Jane Sews website to ogle at this Bobbi dress. For me it’s elegance personified and I love the way it’s accessorised with the brown sandals and hat. One day, you will hang in my closet and I shall skip merrily through daisy fields while wearing you and it shall be glorious.

Jane SewsAnother Jane Sew’s favourite is this Lesley Dress. I think it’s very mysterious and Audrey Hepburn-esque and I can imagine running through alleyways in the rain shouting ‘cat’ with a handsome man by my side in it.

Selfi

Selfi is another of my favourite designers. I love the simplicity, playfulness and elegance of the designs and their timeless feel.

Margot Molyneux

Margot Molyneux knows how to design for women’s bodies, and again, it’s the simplicity of these designs that I really love. I can imagine waking up in a Tuscan villa in this dress, or perhaps a renaissance decrepit mansion tucked away in a tiny village in the South of France.

Witchery

Finally, Witchery, although not a local brand, really does have some very beautiful things. I really like this split front maxi dress because it’s soft and feminine, and I love the chevron pattern.
